Antonia walked into Stark Tower, sighing. "Thank. Fucking. God. I'm finally home. I am never leaving here again," she said, flopping onto the nearest plush surface. They'd just gotten back from UMC in Vegas, and she was so. Damn. Tired. She'd been sleeping on and off but still felt like she could sleep for a hundred years like Briar fucking Rose - Sleeping Beauty, in other words.
She looked over at her father and just smiled. "Home sweet home, finally," she said. Hopefully, he'd get that she was just simply tired and let her sleep, but again, she did snooze off and on both at UMC and on the way there.
MALCOLM was still monitoring her, making sure that his creator was still alright. Thankfully, things ruled in her favor and she was fin vitals-wise. The only thing competing with itself was her brain. Sleep? No sleep? More melatonin? Less melatonin? It was like her own mind couldn't make itself up. She looked at her father and sat up a little, seriously wanting to sleep but also wanting to talk to her father. She didn't know why but she just.... she needed him right now.
Tony was sitting on his couch, for once he wasn't tinkering or thinking, an open brown bag of burgers sat next to him and as he saw Toni walk in he offered up one of the wrapped morsels holding it aloft. Silently inviting her to join him, the news was playing on the TV, there were Anchors from both Universes, for the same channel talking to each other explaining who exactly Tony and the others where to the Earth 420 people, and then there were aerial shots of the area 51 incident, and even Tony flying, the battle between Harvester and Rhodes, then more eirely, Chicago, just gone they couldn't get in close but they had images of the barricades along all major routes, and a few flyovers from when the incident began, Zombies was the initial report, which had made Tony groan. The 24 hour news cycle was a drag sometime. There were reports elsewhere of other heroes doing things across the world, and according to Tony's deep space scans, strange ships had been sighted throughout different systems. Tony absently took another bite and waited for his prodigy to break the silence.
Toni watched the news as she took the burger and opened and ate it, muttering her thanks. She really was thankful, but her mind was full of thoughts, memories, and things she honestly just wanted to forget. But she needed her father and needed to talk to him.
She curled up next to him, needing the proximity more than she knew. Her first words would probably worry the elder Stark. “I’m sorry, Daddy,” she said, “I know I should have stayed out of the lab and maybe none of this would have happened. A week ago, I wanted to read the book we were assigned in English class, but now? Now I can’t even look at it, let alone a real... you know. But that isn’t the point. You could have died, Rhodey and Jack and that mysterious armoured hero could have died...”
She looked up at her father, her smile still there, but not as prominent as she would have liked. She was worried that lives were risked too much for even her sake alone. But she kept eating her burger, happy to finally be home. She’d probably either stay awake all night or sleep until noon the next day. Only time would tell, but whatever happened, her father was sure to understand. The heiress had been through a lot in such a short time, from nearly getting killed by a mad general, to nearly having her arm ripped off by a gargantuan mechanical mutt. Thankfully, she got away mostly unscathed, with just some scarring, bruising and PTSD - of which she was diagnosed by Doctor Strange himself - as her grand prize.
She sighed and leaned against her father, partially intentionally and partially because she was tired as hell and her body was warring with itself on whether or not to sleep. She imagined he was tired too, what with having to save his daughter’s life and then having to spend who knows how long in the hospital waiting for the okay to discharge her, plus the trip back home.
